Presuming I have any actual “followers”, I figured I should let you all know that I’m still here even though I haven’t posted anything lately. Life kind of got in the way for a little while, and my head is a bit twisted currently. I’m in a pretty deep funk and haven’t as of yet found my path out of it. I’m hoping that I can kick this thing soon, what with GenCon practically around the corner.
Anyways, this post is pretty worthless, outside of saying that I still plan to write stuff again, hopefully sooner rather than later.
On June 29th, 2013, a small fledgling gaming convention was created in a miasma of carbs and chits at a Panera Bread location halfway between Cleveland and Columbus. What started as a group of three friends spending the day playing games has now, over the past year, become …. four friends spending the day playing games. Click through to hear about Star Realms, Lost Legacy: The Starship, Potato Man, Caverna, Las Vegas Boulevard, Port Royal, and Florenza The Card Game!
It was a light crew for GameNight this week. Just me, Dan, and Abhishek. And we only got two games in. But man were they a couple of doozies! And they’re both brand spanking new! Read on to learn more about Lost Legacy: The Starship and Seventh Hero.
One of my closest gaming friends (Tiffany @IneptGamer Bahnsen) has told me a few times in the past that I’m really good at learning how to play a game cold. As in, I can open the box, take the rules, and generally within 10-15 minutes, have a solid enough handle on the game to start teaching it. She gave me a great idea for a blog post. She picked a game, Praetor by Andrei Novac, that I had no prior knowledge of. My challenge is to read the rules PDF for it, and document as best I can my process for learning the game. I have no clue how good this post is going to turn out, it could end up just being a wall of gibberish and text. But I think it’s a fun challenge and maybe people can glean some tips or trick into how I learn the game.
Happy Wednesday Before America’s Birthday! or HWBAB (pronounced hwuh-bab) for short! This week, Jon, Abhishek, Chuck, Laura, and myself celebrated our independence in the best way we knew how. By playing board games! And before you ask, no I didn’t bring Hanabi. Click through to see what we did play!
